It seemed like Linkin Park were at the top of their game. The last album shifted their sound from nu-metal to glorious pop and whilst they may have received as much criticism as praise for this bold move, it also brought them some new fans and brought some of us back who may have tired of the old sound.
Now, just after the glory of the O2 and critical acclaim galore, Chester Bennington is gone. No more Download headline slots, no more horror cameos (still one of the best Saw moments), no more incredible Jay Z collaborations, no more Stone Temple Pilots (Ironically Bennington had replaced the deceased Scott Weiland for shows), no more innovation, no more Bennington/Chioda.
So long, Sir, may your pain be finally over, whatever was causing you to think this way and eventually take your life. x
