Once upon a time, I had no interest in John Wick. I expected it to be just another trashy actioner, but luckily my excellent friend Carl hyped it up as something I would love and that weekend I saw the first two back to back and BOOM! The third, I saw on day one.
Now, thanks to Deadline, we have the first details on the TV series set in the Wick universe, The Continental. The show will take place 40 years before the first film (thus we won’t be waiting for a Keanu cameo at any moment) and focus on the character of Winston, the owner of the titular hotel, played on the big screen by Ian McShane.
The Continental is set to be a three part series, with each episode being 90 minutes. Lionsgate chairman Kevin Beggs commented : “What we’re exploring in The Continental is the young Winston and how it came to be that he and his team of confederates found their way into this hotel which we have met for the first time in the movie franchise 40 years later. That’s the arena.”
Consider me in, Mister Wick. Tick Tock.
