The music world has lost an all time great with the death of Stephen Sondheim. You might not know the name but you certainly know his work – he wrote the brilliant lyrics for West Side Story, those stunning songs in Sweeney Todd and Send In The Clowns, the mere mention of which has me humming it, that is a true sign of greatness.
You know you’ve lost an icon when every generation instantly stands up and shares their memories of him, just go look at any news site and you’ll see everyone from Barbra Streisand to Idina Menzel singing his praises, go down the rabbit hole and see how much brilliant brilliant work he did.
Godspeed, sir. Consider the clowns sent to cheer you.
