Well, awards season is here, but you might not know it as the Golden Globes this year, after controversy over lack of diversity scared away sponsors and TV deals, was a very quiet affair. If an awards show does not actually have a show, is it still an awards show?
With the event normally being a signpost to how The Oscars will play out, this year saw Jane Campion’s The Power Of The Dog take best film and best director while Will Smith took best actor. West Side Story and Encanto were also big winners.
But hey, let’s talk about the music, shall we? Billie Eilish became the youngest person ever to win the Best Original Song award for her iconic Bond theme No Time To Die. Awesome. The best-since-whatever-the-last-great-Bond-theme-was track, co-written with Finneas has pretty much swept the boards, so congratulations to the two icons. And a reminder that if you love Billie’s album, which you SHOULD, go buy Finneas ‘Optimist’, which is, whisper it, even better.
