James Bourne is, quite simply, one of my favourite pop stars of the last twenty years. Any fool knows that the first two Busted albums are solid gold pop rock and after that we got Sons Of Dork and the reunion classic Night Driver and the brilliant solo work Safe Journey Home and the recent Sugar Beach. Oh, and there was McBusted too, which gave us the classic Beautiful Girls Are The Loneliest which is resurrected on the recent solo record. Excellent.
I’ve wondered why he is not on the biggest label, given his pop chops and killer tunes but here we go, James Bourne is now signed worldwide to Warner Chappell Music, the music publishing arm of Warner Music Group. Can you be more Kendallrock than to have written tracks for 5 Seconds Of Summer, McFly and Jonas Brothers? No, you cannot.
Bourne commented : “I’m beyond excited to begin a new chapter with Warner Chappell! My songwriting over the last 20 years has taken me on the most amazing journey. I still feel like I have a lot more to offer as a songwriter and an artist. Onwards!”
This is great news for James and for his fans and more importantly for the pop future of the world. applause
