Holy cow, as someone who danced the sticky floor of FROG and saw them in a crazy Kings Cross pirate party hosted by Peter Doherty and also in the O2, this is a story I had to share. I always loved The Cribs, an alternative band with a pop edge, plug in and play with a million choruses, those first three The Cribs albums still stand up to whatever ‘alternative’ bands you want to covet in 2022.
Now the sonically brilliant trio of rock classics have been re-released with all the bells and whistles you could want, b-sides, demos, new packaging, great notes, six cds of greatness. There are coloured vinyl versions as well as 2CD editions and in the midweek charts, they were ALL in the top ten. Now, chances are, by tonight’s chart, they will be lower down the chart, but hey, this is worth reporting as they are fucking great records and, gulp, it feels like yesterday that I bought them the first time…:o
