It was only a year ago that Def Leppard gave us Diamond Star Halos and now just 12 months later, their next project has been revealed.
Drastic Symphonies sees the band like up with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra to revisit some of their biggest hits, alongside lesser known fan favourites. Sure we are getting Animal and Pour Some Sugar on me but the album kicks off with Turn To Dust from the much maligned Slang album and follows that with Euphoria’s Paper Sun. Nice.
Interestingly the album was recorded at the iconic Abbey Road Studios and it is not just added orchestral doodahs on top of the old songs, there are new guitar and lead vocal parts recorded alongside the music and similar to how Natalie Cole ‘joined’ her father for a ‘duet’, Joe Elliott promises moments where we will hear 2023 Joe harmonising with his younger self, which I cannot wait to experience.
Drastic Symphonies hits on May 19th and you can hear Animal below. You can also pre order the album over at store.defleppard.com
